Cake Monster, 2023


Inspired by Jim Henson’s work on The Muppet Show, this surreal cake highlights my playful approach to sculpture. I chose to use traditional hand felting techniques in order to create the body and detail, creating unorthodox textures to add to the character of the peice. Cakes have long been a symbol of celebration and indulgence, usually bringing joy with them. I wanted to bring a comical twist to this tradition by bringing it to life with a knowing sweet smirk and life-like eye contact.
